Biography
Dr. Cross received a B.Sc. in Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, U.K. in 1997 and a Ph.D. in nutrition and cancer from the University of Cambridge, U.K. in 2002. She joined the Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) of NCI as a post-doctoral fellow in 2003 and became a research fellow in 2005 and an investigator in 2006. Dr. Cross is principal investigator (PI) of the CONCeRN study and co-PI, with Arthur Schatzkin, of the Polyp Prevention Trial. She established and leads a colorectal cancer working group and is a member of the Office of Education Advisory Group and a mentor for the Yale University–NCI Partnership Training Program. Since joining NCI, she has received the DCEG award for Outstanding Research Paper by a Fellow, the DCEG Fellowship Achievement award for outstanding accomplishments and the NIH Fellows award for research excellence; in addition, she received the Molecular Epidemiology Group and the American Association for Cancer Research Scholar-in-Training award.
