Julia Elrod, B.A., joined the Biostatistics Branch (BB) as a postbaccalaureate fellow in August 2020 after receiving her B.A. in mathematics from Kenyon College, Gambier, Ohio. Ms. Elrod spent the summer of 2018 at the Ohio State University conducting research in statistical genetics under the guidance of Dr. Asuman Turkmen, comparing the efficacy of multivariate association tests for Genome-Wide Association Study (GWAS) data. At Kenyon, she completed a senior capstone project focused on the derivation and application of the ordinary kriging predictor, a method for analyzing data with a continuous spatial index.
In BB, Ms. Elrod works under the mentorship of Philip Rosenberg, Ph.D., senior investigator, on statistical methodology in cancer surveillance, such as Age-Period-Cohort Modeling.
