Hanaisa Sant Anna, Ph.D., joined the Laboratory of Genetic Susceptibility (LGS) in 2020 as a postdoctoral fellow. She has experience in genomics of admixed populations and has developed award-winning research on historical inferences and biomedical implications of human diversity. Prior to joining DCEG, Dr. Sant Anna worked in Dr. Eduardo Tarazona’s lab in Brazil and Dr. David Balding’s lab in Australia.
In DCEG, she works under the mentorship of Stephen J. Chanock, M.D., Director, on understanding the underlying population genetics that contribute to susceptibility to COVID-19 and the severity of disease progression. In addition, she will be conducting research in bioinformatics related to chromosomal alterations in sarcomas.
