NCI Shady Grove, Room TE110
In recent years, research interest in the association between physical activity and cancer has grown considerably. Current studies show that physical activity is associated with up to 25% decreased risk of up to 13 cancers, and insufficient physical activity levels have been estimated to account for 9% of breast cancer cases and 10% of colon cancer cases. This talk summarizes the current knowledge about physical activity and cancer and highlights opportunities for future epidemiologic and mechanistic research in this area.
This annual lecture honors the memory of Arthur Schatzkin, M.D., Dr.P.H., a visionary scientist, mentor, and leader in the field of nutritional epidemiology.
