Payal Rajender Kumar, B.D.S., M.D.S., M.P.H.

Payal Rajender Kumar, B.D.S., M.D.S., M.P.H., joined DCEG as a postdoctoral fellow in the Clinical Genetics Branch (CGB) in October 2023, as part of a joint dental public health fellowship with the National Institute of Dental and Craniofacial Research and NCI. Dr. Kumar received her bachelor’s degree in dental surgery from the Government Dental College, Haryana, India, and then completed her general practice residency. She went on to earn a master’s degree in prosthodontics from Sharda University, Greater Noida, India and a master’s degree in public health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, Maryland.

In CGB, Dr. Kumar is working on developing image-based AI algorithms for classification of oral precancer and cancer under the mentorship of Anil Chaturvedi, Ph.D., senior investigator, CGB.
