NCI Director’s Award Ceremony 2019, DCEG Staff Recognized

On December 5, 2019, several deserving DCEG staff were recognized at the NCI Director’s Awards ceremony. 

A complete list of the award winners follows:

Mitchell H. Gail, M.D., Ph.D., senior investigator in the Biostatistics Branch, and Robert N. Hoover Ph.D., D.Sc., Director of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Program, were named NIH Distinguished Investigators. 

Two DCEG principal investigators were recognized for outstanding mentorship: Nicolas Wentzensen, M.D., Ph.D., M.S., senior investigator and deputy branch chief in the Clinical Genetics Branch, and Kevin Brown, Ph.D., senior investigator in the Laboratory of Translational Genomics. DCEG takes pride in its commitment to mentoring early-career scientists, as exhibited by these two exceptional individuals and the overall culture they represent.

The Familial Testicular Germ Cell Tumor Research Team received an NCI Director’s Award for their outstanding achievements in advancing understanding of testicular cancer etiology through the creation of a unique familial testicular cancer cohort and highly-effective international collaborations. Members of the team include Mark H. Greene, M.D., Alexander Ling, M.D., Jennifer T. Loud, R.N., C.R.N.P., D.N.P., Phuong L. Mai, M.D., Katherine McGlynn, Ph.D., M.P.H., Mary McMaster, M.D., Lisa Mirabello, Ph.D., M.S., Anand Pathak , M.D., Ph.D., M.P.H., June A. Peters, M.S., C.G.C., L.M.F.T., Ruth Pfeiffer, Ph.D., Philip Rosenberg, Ph.D., Jianxin Shi, Ph.D., Douglas Stewart, M.D.

Amanda Black, Ph.D., M.P.H., Associate Director of Biological Resources, Marianne Henderson, M.S., C.P.C., Senior Advisor for Division Resources, and Robert Minutillo, Director of the Administrative Resource Center, were among those who received the Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) Bridge Award in recognition of their efforts to renew the contract ensuring continued operations of the NCI's FFRDC/Frederick National Lab for Cancer Research.

Several other DCEG staff were recognized for their years of continued service at the NCI.
