Adino Tesfahun Tsegaye, Ph.D., M.P.H., joined DCEG as a postdoctoral fellow in the Infections and Immunoepidemiology Branch (IIB) in March 2024. He earned his Ph.D. in epidemiology from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 2023. He completed his M.P.H. in epidemiology and biostatistics in 2015 and his B.S. in public health in 2011 at the University of Gondar, Ethiopia. Prior to his Ph.D., Dr. Tsegaye was an assistant professor at the University of Gondar Department of Epidemiology and Biostatistics. For his dissertation work, Dr. Tsegaye investigated cervical cancer screening and human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination among East African immigrants, including a mathematical model to predict the impact of screening by HPV self-sampling on cervical cancer-related morbidity and mortality. 

In IIB, Dr. Tsegaye is working on projects related to cervical cancer and racial differences in HPV-related cancers under the mentorship of Aimee R. Kreimer, Ph.D., senior investigator, and Jaimie Z. Shing, Ph.D., M.P.H.
