Biography
As Director of Enterprise Solutions and Strategy, Mr. Geoffrey Tobias is responsible for administrative oversight and strategic direction of the division’s enterprise solutions to facilitate DCEG’s scientific operations. His focus is to utilize—when feasible—existing infrastructure in which the NIH and NCI have made major investments, to build agile information systems that will enhance and streamline operational business processes. Mr. Tobias led the effort to build and continues to maintain the myDCEG dashboard, an informational resource for DCEG staff that provides data and information pertaining to budget requests, budget monitoring, fiscal reporting, manuscript clearance, human resources review, scientific review, and portfolio analysis to appropriate audiences. These efforts were recognized with a 2020 NCI Director’s Award. Mr. Tobias also manages fiscal reporting, data sharing implementation and compliance. He currently holds Federal Acquisition Certifications (FAC) for Program and Project Managers (FAC-P/PM) and for Contracting Officer’s Representatives (FAC-COR) Level III.
Mr. Tobias serves on several working groups including the Trans-NCI Data Sharing Committee, the NCI Data Management and Sharing Expert Panel, the NCI Informatics and IT Advisory Group, the Center for Bioinformatics and Information Technology (CBIIT) Strategic Planning Working Group, the NCI IT Acquisitions Planning Board, and the NCI Software Coordinators Working Group. He also serves as the Division’s liaison to CBIIT.
Mr. Tobias received his B.S. in financial and resource management from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, in 2001. He joined DCEG as a program assistant (2002) and later served as an epidemiology program specialist (2003), program analyst (2007), and lead program analyst (2016). In 2024, he was named Director, Enterprise Solutions and Strategy.
