Short Bio

Professor Anssi Auvinen is Professor and Chair of Epidemiology at Tampere University in Tampere Finland, and previously, the visiting professor at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, the Netherlands and at the International Agency for Research on Cancer in Lyon, France.  He is Principal Investigator of the ProScreen randomized trial and previously served as Principal Investigator of the Finnish randomized study of prostate cancer screening and as coordinator and chief epidemiologist of the ERSPC trial.  Professor Auvinen has served as invited expert to the WHO, IARC, UNSCEAR, SCENIHR, UICC and others.  His primary research interests are on health effects of ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and prostate cancer screening.
