Germline Genetic Variation and Outcome in Breast and Ovarian Cancer - Dr. Paul Pharoah
DCEG Events
February 11, 2019 | 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM
NCI Shady Grove Rockville, Maryland
Speaker
Paul Pharoah, M.D., Ph.D.
Professor of Cancer Epidemiology, University of Cambridge, U.K.
Description
There is good evidence that inherited genetic variation is associated with differences in prognosis in women with breast cancer. It is likely that a similar association applies to other cancer such as ovarian cancer. Professor Paul Pharoah will describe the role of rare alleles of the known high penetrance breast and ovarian cancer susceptibility genes in affecting outcomes in breast and ovarian cancer. He will then discuss the role of common genetic variation in the breast and ovarian cancer prognosis based on the results of large-scale genome wide association studies.
Host
Gretchen Gierach, Ph.D., M.P.H., Deputy Chief and Senior Investigator, Integrative Tumor Epidemiology Branch, Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, NCI
