Title:  The sequence of genetic mutations in endometrial hyperplasia and invasive carcinoma

Headshot of Ashley Felix

Ashley Felix, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Cancer Prevention Fellow, Hormonal and Reproductive Epidemiology Branch
Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG), National Cancer Institute (NCI)
Recipient of: 2014 Intramural Research Award

Description: Endometrial hyperplasia is a heterogeneous group of lesions that predispose to invasive endometrial cancer. Complex atypical hyperplasia (CAH), the most severe lesion and immediate precursor to most endometrial carcinomas, is associated with a 28% risk of progression to invasive carcinoma. Importantly, biomarkers that can refine risk of progression are lacking. This information could be of use to clinicians and women for tailored treatment decisions.  In this seminar, Dr. Felix will present the rationale for exploring biomarkers of progression to invasive endometrial carcinoma as well as an update of this in-progress study.
