Description:  Dr. Hannah Valantine, NIH’s first Chief Officer for Scientific Workforce Diversity, will discuss how NIH is addressing the science of diversity under her leadership. She will describe novel, evidence-based strategies under way in the NIH intramural and extramural programs. These include targeted recruitment of intramural research program scientists; new programming to fill career transition gaps; analyses and interventions for unconscious bias in hiring and review; and the Common Fund-supported Enhancing Diversity in the NIH-Funded Workforce consortium.
