Biography

Phuc Hoang, Ph.D., joined DCEG as a bioinformatics scientist in the Integrated Tumor Epidemiology Branch (ITEB) in 2020, and was appointed as a staff scientist in 2023. He received his master's in molecular and cellular biochemistry from Oxford University, and his Ph.D. in cancer genetics and bioinformatics from the Institute of Cancer Research/University of London, both in the UK. 

Research Interests

In ITEB, Dr. Hoang supports research and leads the operational activities of several projects on lung cancer (Sherlock-Lung and EAGLE) and melanoma (MelaNostrum Consortium) studies. His main areas of technical expertise are bioinformatics, data analysis, and statistics with deep knowledge and experience working with next-generation sequencing data as well as radiological imaging data. Dr. Hoang oversees multiple administrative and operational aspects of large-scale studies including operating budget, contracts, technology transfer, biospecimen and epidemiological data collection, and clinical data harmonization.
