Kathryn Kundrod, Ph.D., M.P.H. (she/her) joined DCEG as a Cancer Prevention postdoctoral fellow in the Clinical Genetics Branch (CGB) in September 2022. Prior to joining DCEG, she worked at Rice University as a postdoctoral researcher and laboratory manager, working on point-of-care diagnostics for HPV and SARS-CoV-2. Dr. Kundrod earned her Ph.D. in bioengineering from Rice University, Houston, Texas, in 2020 and her M.P.H. in global health from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, Boston, Massachusetts in 2021. Her Ph.D. work centered on developing point-of-care HPV tests. 

In CGB, Dr. Kundrod is researching HPV detection methods that have the potential to reduce cervical cancer disparities, under the mentorship of Dr. Philip Castle. Through her fellowship, she is currently on rotation with the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP), where serves as Senior Advisor for Cancer Moonshot Policy Coordination.
