Kayla Gerdich, B.S., joined DCEG as a postbaccalaureate fellow in the Laboratory of Translational Genomics (LTG) in July 2026. She earned a B.S. in molecular genetics from the University of Rochester in 2026. During her undergraduate training, Ms. Gerdich completed a Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) at The Wistar Institute, where she investigated the role of extracellular vesicles in shaping the tumor microenvironment in glioblastoma.
As a postbaccalaureate fellow, Ms. Gerdich works under the mentorship of Kevin Brown, Ph.D., and Aidan O’Brien, Ph.D., M.Pharm., M.Sc., identifying and characterizing genetic risk factors for melanoma.
