Sophie Papiernik, B.S., joined the DCEG Laboratory of Translational Genomics (LTG) as a postbaccalaureate fellow in the laboratory of Kevin Brown, Ph.D., in June, 2024. Ms. Papiernik earned her B.S. in cognitive neuroscience with a minor in bioinformatics from The George Washington University, Washington, DC, in 2024.

Prior to joining DCEG, Ms. Papiernik worked at The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences investigating the immune function of keratinocytes in the epidermis during inflammation in wound healing. In LTG, she is performing functional characterization of both common sequence variants and familial risk variants associated with melanoma at the 9p21 locus, under the mentorship of Dr. Brown.
