Dr. Patel joined the Laboratory of Translational Genomics (LTG) as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Laufey Amundadottir, Ph.D., senior investigator, in 2022. She completed her Ph.D. at the Bart’s Cancer Institute, London, U.K. in 2021. For her doctoral thesis, Dr. Patel identified non-coding somatic mutations in pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, using both bioinformatic techniques and wet laboratory functional validation. In 2024, she was selected for the Sallie Rosen Kaplan Fellowship program.

In LTG, Dr. Patel’s research focuses on the functional characterization of inherited variants identified through genome-wide association studies and their role in pancreatic cancer risk.
