Dr. Prasad joined the NCI in 2021 as a postdoctoral fellow with a joint appointment to the Laboratory of Translational Genomics (LTG) in the Laboratory of Laufey Amundadottir, Ph.D., senior investigator, and the Laboratory of Receptor Biology and Gene Expression, Center for Cancer Research, in the Laboratory of Efsun Arda, Ph.D., Earl Stadtman Investigator.

Dr. Prasad completed her Ph.D. in human genetics from the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), New Delhi, India, in 2021. Her thesis involved identification of DNA copy number variations influencing risk of type 2 diabetes in Indian populations. She also led various projects studying genetics of quantitative metabolic traits and chronic pancreatitis in Indian adults and childhood obesity markers in Indian children. Dr. Prasad worked as a research associate at Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi, India, with her Ph.D. mentor Prof. Dwaipayan Bharadwaj on fine-mapping of long non-coding RNA genes for childhood obesity and chronic pancreatitis in Indians.

At the NCI, Dr. Prasad focuses her research on understanding the effects of genetic variation on pancreas cancer risk using a systems biology approach that integrates genetic variation with cell-type resolved gene expression, DNA methylation, open chromatin features, and three-dimensional chromatin interactions under the mentorship of Dr. Amundadottir and Dr. Arda.
