Gauri Prasad, Ph.D.
NCI Shady Grove | CRL/3114
Gauri Prasad, Ph.D., joined NCI in 2021 as a postdoctoral fellow with a joint appointment in the Laboratory of Translational Genomics (LTG), under the mentorship Laufey Amundadottir, Ph.D., in DCEG, and the Laboratory of Receptor Biology and Gene Expression (LRBGE) in the Center for Cancer Research, under the mentorship of Efsun Arda Ph.D.
Dr. Prasad completed her Ph.D. in Human Genetics from the CSIR-Institute of Genomics and Integrative Biology, Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR), New Delhi, India, in 2021. Her doctoral research focused on identifying DNA copy number variations that influence the risk of type 2 diabetes in Indian populations. In addition to this, she led several projects investigating the genetics of quantitative metabolic traits, chronic pancreatitis in Indian adults, and childhood obesity markers in Indian children.
In LTG, Dr. Prasad’s research focuses on understanding the impact of genetic variation on pancreatic cancer risk, employing a systems biology approach. She integrates genetic variation data with cell-type resolved gene expression, DNA methylation, open chromatin features, and three-dimensional chromatin interactions. She was awarded the FARE Travel Award in 2024.
