Luz Villanueva, B.A., joined DCEG as an iCURE postbaccalaureate fellow in the Occupational and Environmental Epidemiology Branch (OEEB) in September 2025. She earned a master's degree in biostatistics from the University of Maryland, College Park. Prior to joining DCEG, Ms. Villanueva was a research assistant studying the role of type 2 macrophages in lung inflammation using allergen models.
As an iCURE postbaccalaureate fellow, Ms. Villanueva works under the mentorship of Rena Jones, Ph.D., M.S. conducting epidemiologic research on cancer risks associated with air pollution and drinking water contaminants.
