Solar Ultraviolet Radiation Dosimetry and Epidemiology

Dr. Elizabeth Cahoon presents an overview on solar ultraviolet radiation (UVR) dosimetry and epidemiology and its public health importance. She discusses UVR exposure and risks of skin cancers, eye disease, and systemic immune suppression, as well as benefits such as treatment, vitamin D production, and potentially reduced risks of some autoimmune diseases and cancers. She also describes future research to refine understanding and quantify risks and benefits to guide public health policies.
