Dr. Meredith Yeager presents an overview of genetic and genomic laboratory tools and approaches, beginning with the initial sequencing and analysis of the human genome; types of polymorphisms (variations); discussion of which variants contribute to disease; clarification of terminology; genetic cancer susceptibility; technological advances and community efforts; examples of genetic studies; analyzing and storing large data sets; study design from a lab point of view; and data sharing.
