Research Compliance Analyst (Contractor), DCEG Office of the Director - Rockville, Maryland
The Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) is offering an exciting opportunity to join our team as a research compliance analyst. This contract position will serve in the Office of the Director as a member of the interdisciplinary, collaborative scientific operations team. The primary responsibilities of the research compliance analyst will be to provide support for Division research compliance activities. In this position, the incumbent will serve as liaison to NCI and NIH and will perform a wide range of review, advisory, and technical functions related to research compliance. Duties will include coordinating research data sharing activities for the Division, managing submission of DCEG data, and providing education and implementation to enforce compliance with NIH Policy. The analyst will provide advice and support in preparing responses to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, inquiries concerning the standards of ethical conduct for Federal employees, technology transfer, Institutional Review Board (IRB), and other NIH compliance issues for the Division. Other responsibilities will include completing reports to NCI and NIH that are related to research compliance and reviewing letters of collaboration by DCEG scientific staff. The duties of this position will integrate with and complement other research operations and planning tasks on the scientific operations team.
Qualifications: Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree. Experience in government preferred, with general knowledge of applicable terminologies, FOIA, federal employee ethics, research study data sharing, technology transfer, and other research compliance activities. Candidates must have strong organizational and time management skills and be highly detail oriented with attention to guidance and procedures. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are necessary. Candidates must be able to respond to time sensitive requests independently and work well under pressure.
Organization Description: NCI DCEG is the world’s most comprehensive cancer epidemiology research group. The Division carries out its research program to discover the genetic and environmental determinants of cancer and new approaches to cancer prevention with a cadre of in-house researchers and trainees. The scientific operations team within the DCEG Office of the Director aims to provide outstanding support and guidance on scientific, programmatic, and administrative processes and manage Division-wide resources to promote the success of DCEG staff and projects.
