Work with Dr. Rashmi Sinha

The Metabolic Epidemiology Branch (MEB) of the NCI Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow interested in studies of diet, the human microbiome, and metabolomics in relation to gastrointestinal and other cancers, under the mentorship of Rashmi Sinha, Ph.D., senior investigator. DCEG is a leading biomedical institution in the fields of cancer epidemiology and genetics.

This fellowship will be focused on the studies of diet, such as meat and coffee, the human microbiome, and metabolomics in relation to gastrointestinal and other cancers. Studies of the microbiome and metabolome relevant to dietary factors are ongoing, utilizing multifaceted, biologically-based approaches to solving some of the urgent questions regarding the nutritional epidemiology of cancer. The postdoctoral fellow will have access to microbiome and metabolome data, cancer cohort resources within DCEG, and other consortium data, available for cutting-edge hypothesis testing and team collaborations. Mechanistic and methodological research opportunities are also available.

Qualifications

Candidates should possess a strong background in epidemiology and biology, and have an interest in investigating the novel areas of microbiome and metabolome. Competitive stipends commensurate with prior education and experience are available. Qualified candidates are encouraged to apply.

Applicants with or soon to receive a doctoral degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, or another analytical, related field are encouraged to apply. Experience analyzing microbiome data is a plus, but not required. A successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills, be self-motivated, and able to work in an interdisciplinary team. Salary and benefits are highly competitive and commensurate with experience.

Review of applications will continue until the position is filled. Applicants may be U.S. citizens, permanent residents; or foreign nationals (visa requirements apply). Candidates are subject to a background investigation.
