Fangya Mao, Ph.D., joined DCEG as a postdoctoral fellow in the Biostatistics Branch in September 2022. She received her Ph.D. in biostatistics from the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. For her doctoral work, Dr. Mao focused on developing statistical methods for the analysis and design of life-history studies, addressing issues arising from incomplete data due to the study design, missing covariates, and latent processes.

As a postdoctoral fellow in BB, Dr. Mao is working with Stadtman investigator Li Cheung, Ph.D., to develop novel statistical methods for the analysis of multistate time-to-event data and the design of cost-effective biomarker studies, with an aim of advancing understanding of cancer etiology and complex cancer processes.
