Dr. Shyfuddin Ahmed joined the Infections and Immunoepidemiology Branch (IIB) as a postdoctoral fellow in June 2023. He earned a Ph.D. in epidemiology from Florida International University, Miami, Florida. He obtained an M.P.H. from BRAC University, Bangladesh and an undergraduate degree in physical therapy. Prior to joining IIB, he implemented large epidemiological studies examining the effect of environmental pollutants on cardiovascular diseases, pulmonary and immune functions in Bangladesh.

In IIB, Dr. Ahmed is examining the contribution of immunomodulating therapeutic agents that are used to treat autoimmune conditions to the etiology and outcome of cancer under the mentorship of Eric A. Engels, M.D., M.P.H., Branch Director and senior investigator.
