Li (Cindy) Feng, Ph.D., joined DCEG as a postdoctoral fellow in the Integrative Tumor Epidemiology Branch (ITEB) under the mentorship of Rose Yang, Ph.D., M.P.H., senior investigator, ITEB, in July 2024.  Dr. Feng obtained her Ph.D. in nutrition with a focus on epidemiology and quantitative analysis in 2024, and a master's in nutrition specializing in molecular immunology in 2014, both from the University of Maryland, College Park. For her doctoral work, Dr. Feng utilized multi-omics data, advanced statistical models, causal inference, and machine learning to explore modifiable risk factors associated with brain aging and elucidate metabolic pathways in breast cancer survivors. Her overall research aim is to harness precision medicine approaches to develop personalized treatment and prevention strategies for cancer and aging.

In ITEB, Dr. Feng is conducting molecular epidemiologic analyses of breast cancer to examine molecular profiles in breast tumors, adjacent normal tissues, and tumor microenvironment among breast cancer patients in Asian and African populations and to associate the molecular changes with etiologic factors, breast tissue composition, and clinical outcomes.
