Patrick J. Ryan, Ph.D., M.P.H.
- Postdoctoral Fellow
Patrick J. Ryan, Ph.D., M.P.H., joined DCEG in July 2026 as a postdoctoral fellow in the Metabolic Epidemiology Branch (MEB) under the mentorship of Steven C. Moore, Ph.D., M.P.H.
Dr. Ryan earned a Ph.D. in kinesiology from Texas A&M University. He completed his M.P.H. at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health through NCI’s Cancer Prevention Fellowship Program.
Dr. Ryan’s doctoral research focused on cellular mechanisms of protein metabolism. He examined how regulators of protein turnover control cell growth and influence patient survival.
As a Cancer Prevention Fellow in MEB, Dr. Ryan is identifying plasma proteins that may mediate the association between obesity and increased cancer risk. His broader research examines how changes in metabolism, particularly alterations in the proteome, interact with modifiable lifestyle exposures to influence cancer risk.
