Pei Zhang, Ph.D., joined Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics (DCEG) as a postdoctoral fellow in the Biostatistics Branch (BB), joined DCEG in September 2021. As a predoctoral fellow, she worked on her dissertation research about developing statistical methods for characterizing cumulative genetic effects and heritability analyses on the dynamic trajectories of longitudinal phenotypes. She earned her Ph.D. in mathematical statistics from the University of Maryland, College Park, in 2025.  Her research also addressed the use of population stratification to enhance the accuracy of cancer screening for early detection and improve cancer risk assessment.

Under the mentorship of Paul S. Albert, Ph.D., senior investigator and Director of BB, Jianxin Shi, Ph.D., senior investigator, and Hyokyoung Hong, Ph.D., senior investigator, Dr. Zhang continues to develop statistical approaches for the analyses of longitudinal biomarker data, genome-wide data, diagnostic testing and personalized cancer prediction.
