Mona Miraftab joined DCEG as a postbaccalaureate fellow in the Integrative Tumor Epidemiology Branch (ITEB) through the iCURE program, in September 2023. Prior to joining DCEG, she completed her B.S. in biology at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), where she also pursued minors in Spanish and biomedical research. Ms. Miraftab’s studies led her to the California NanoSystems Institute at UCLA within the department of molecular and medical pharmacology, where she concentrated on identifying early molecular biomarkers of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. 

In ITEB, she supports Maria Teresa Landi, M.D., Ph.D., senior investigator in ITEB, focusing on the review of clinical and pathological data for the Sherlock-Lung Study and collaborating with underrepresented sites around the globe.
