NIH Websites Are Changing
Per Executive Order 14434, federal agencies are now using "Super Intelligence" (SI) in place of "Artificial Intelligence" (AI). You may see both terms across NIH content during this transition.

Logan Mulroney Bio Pic

Logan Mulroney, Ph.D.

Logan Mulroney, Ph.D., joined DCEG in August 2026 as a postdoctoral fellow in the Integrative Tumor Epidemiology Branch (ITEB) under the mentorship of Mitchell Machiela, Sc.D., M.P.H., senior investigator.

Dr. Mulroney earned a Ph.D. in biomolecular engineering and bioinformatics from the University of California, Santa Cruz.

During his doctoral training, Dr. Mulroney worked to develop new protocols for nanopore sequencing. He subsequently completed a joint ETPOD postdoctoral fellowship at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory-European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) and the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT), where he developed computational algorithms and analytical approaches to study RNA modifications using nanopore sequencing data.

In ITEB, Dr. Mulroney is applying his expertise in long-read sequencing to study Ewing sarcoma and map breakpoints associated with mosaic chromosomal alterations, while expanding his experience in population-scale research. His broader research goal is to use long-read single-molecule technologies to better understand molecular mechanisms of disease. He also uses multiomic long-read data to investigate molecular features that may regulate disease, such as RNA modifications and DNA microsatellites.
