Bolun Li, M.D., Ph.D, joined the Laboratory of Translational Genomics (LTG) as a postdoctoral fellow in the laboratory of Jiyeon Choi, Ph.D., M.S., in October 2023.
Prior to joining DCEG, Dr. Li earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from Peking Union Medical College, Beijing, China, in 2023. He received bachelor’s degrees in biomedical English and mathematical statistics from Peking University, Beijing, China. In his doctoral studies, Dr. Li focused on the applications and methodologies of multi-omics for cardiopulmonary diseases. He established the single-cell atlas of abdominal aortic aneurysm and pulmonary hypertension to decipher the cellular mechanism of diverse vascular remodeling. He also developed a new Bayesian method of cell-type deconvolution using single cell datasets.
In LTG, he characterizes the transcript diversity of different cell types and further identifies cell-type specific isoform-level sQTLs in human lung tissues using single-cell splice-QTL with long-read sequencing. His primary mentor is Dr. Choi, Head, Jiyeon Choi Laboratory, and his secondary mentor is Haoyu Zhang, Ph.D., in the Biostatistics Branch.
