Sama Mikhail joined DCEG as a postbaccalaureate fellow in the Laboratory of Translational Genomics (LTG), in October 2024. Prior to joining DCEG, Ms. Mikhail graduated with a B.S. in microbiology and a minor in chemistry from San Diego State University, California, in May 2024. As an undergraduate student, she trained in a molecular biology laboratory, investigating the cardiopulmonary effects of vaping. She also has experience in marine microbiology and cardiovascular science.

Ms. Mikhail is working on functionally characterizing how variants identified in genome-wide associated studies can contribute to lung cancer development using cell-based systems, under the mentorship of Jiyeon Choi, Ph.D., M.S.
