Somayina Ezennia, M.P.H.

Somayina Ezennia, M.P.H., joined OEEB in October 2022 as a postbaccalaureate fellow. In 2021, he earned his M.P.H. in epidemiology and biostatistics from the Brown School at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. In 2019, Mr. Ezennia earned a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Texas in Austin. While there, he conducted undergraduate research on how genetics and the environment influence the cellular mechanisms underlying craniofacial development. Mr. Ezennia was a Graduate Data Science Summer Program (GDSSP) fellow in the summer of 2021, working with Jason Y.Y. Wong, Sc.D., and Qing Lan, M.D., Ph.D., on Alu retroelement copy number and lung cancer risk in the PLCO screening trial.
In OEEB, Mr. Ezennia works under the mentorship of Jonathan Hofmann, Ph.D., on investigations of multiple myeloma and its precursor, monoclonal gammopathy of undetermined significance (MGUS), and on projects within the Biomarkers of Exposure and Effect in Agriculture (BEEA) Study and the Agricultural Health Study.
