NCI Data Science Training Resource Launches

, by Maura Kate Costello, M.A.

The NCI Center for Biomedical Informatics and Information Technology (CBIIT) launched a new data science training resource to help early-career cancer researchers and trainees gain basic skills in navigating the world of cancer data science.

To fill gaps in data science skills, collaborators from CBIIT, DCEG, the Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences, the Division of Cancer Biology, the Center for Cancer Research, and the Division of Cancer Treatment and Diagnosis created a training guide library with resources organized by skill level, a 101 course that gives an overview of basic data science skills for cancer research, and an interactive guide that shows each step of a cancer data science lifecycle project.

Requests for additional training may be made directly to ncicbiit@mail.nih.gov. New materials will be posted regularly.
