Postbaccalaureate Fellow

Nesreen Shahrour, B.S., joined DCEG as a postbaccalaureate fellow in the Integrative Tumor Epidemiology Branch (ITEB) in August 2024. Prior to joining DCEG, she worked as a research assistant at Lombardi Comprehensive Cancer Center, part of MedStar Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, studying radiation-induced tissue damage through methylation patterns in circulating cell-free DNA to detect tissue-specific cell death. Ms. Shahrour earned her bachelor’s degree in human science with a minor in disability studies from Georgetown University in 2023.

Currently, Ms. Shahrour is pursuing her Doctor of Medicine degree from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and is investigating genomic data associated with cutaneous melanoma among high-risk families as part of the MelaNostrum Consortium. Her mentor is Maria Teresa Landi, M.D., Ph.D.
