Wendy Wong Joins DCEG as a Senior Bioinformatician

Wendy Wong, Ph.D., has joined the Trans-divisional Research Program as a senior bioinformatician. 

The position was established following the consensus achieved through the DCEG Strategic Planning process, which identified as a top priority the need to strengthen the Division’s bioinformatics expertise and support. In this role, Dr. Wong will develop, implement, and provide key bioinformatics leadership, expertise, and support to the Division, and serve as the head for a newly established DCEG Bioinformatics Virtual Core (BVC). 

The main mission of the BVC is to create a collaborative network across bioinformaticians working in DCEG, the Cancer Genomics Research (CGR) Laboratory, and other contracting mechanisms, to facilitate communication, exchange of expertise, training, and professional development. Dr. Wong will also identify and evaluate new methods and technologies, provide training/exposure to Cloud computing, as well as support best practices following FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles.
