Stephen J. Chanock, M.D., DCEG Director and senior investigator, was featured in the American Association for Cancer Research's (AACR) Stories video series. The video, titled, "A Career Committed to Defeating Cancer," explores how Dr. Chanock dedicated his life to solving the problems of cancer after his brother and best friend, Foster, was diagnosed with a rare type of cancer.

At the 2023 AACR Annual Meeting, Dr. Chanock was elected to the 2023 class of Fellows of the AACR Academy. He was honored “for pioneering efforts dedicated to defining detectable clonal mosaicism and for impactful research focused on the discovery and characterization of cancer susceptibility regions in the human genome, directly enhancing our understanding of the association between inherited genetic variants and cancer risk.”
