Murphy Recognized with NCI Staff Scientist Outstanding Mentor Award

Gwen A. Murphy, Ph.D., was recognized with the 2019 NCI Staff Scientist and Staff Clinician Outstanding Mentor Award at the 15th Annual CCR and DCEG Staff Scientists and Staff Clinicians Retreat on Friday, April 26, 2019.
This award recognizes excellence in guiding the careers of trainees in cancer research. This is the fourth year the award has been given; Dr. Murphy is the first from DCEG to receive it.
In the words of her nominators, the award recognizes Dr. Murphy’s outstanding leadership and tireless efforts in mentoring fellows: “She has an open-door policy and willingly helps trainees however and whenever she can… I have never had a supervisor that is as encouraging as Dr. Murphy. Every communication with her is an experience in positivity that leaves me feeling energized to continue with my work.”
Dr. Murphy is a staff scientist in the Metabolic Epidemiology Branch.
