Alexandra R. Harris, Ph.D., M.P.H., M.S., postdoctoral fellow in the Integrative Tumor Epidemiology Branch (ITEB), received two intramural research funding awards in 2023. The first award is the Center for Cancer Research Health Disparities Award, for her project, "Investigation of ARID1A mutations as a clinically significant molecular target in Kenyan women with breast cancer." This award provides $25,000 to support this research. The second award is an extension of funding for the Transdisciplinary Fellowship Research Award, which Dr. Harris received alongside former postdoctoral fellow in ITEB, Brittany Lord, Ph.D., M.P.H., M.S., and research fellow in the Metabolic Epidemiology Branch, Wayne Lawrence, Dr.P.H., M.P.H., in 2022. The initial award provided $20,000 of funding for their research project exploring how socio-environmental factors at the neighborhood level can influence breast tissue inflammation. The research supplement provides an additional $15,000 to support the expansion of this work.
