Steve Moore Presents Research on Physical Activity to NCAB,BSA

, by DCEG Staff

In June 2016, Steven C. Moore, Ph.D., M.P.H., presented his latest work on physical activity and cancer risk to the joint meeting of the NCI National Cancer Advisory Board and Board of Scientific Advisors. Dr. Moore summarized findings from prospective cohort studies published earlier this year in which he and his colleagues identified an additional 13 cancers for which greater leisure-time physical activity was associated with lower risk.

In addition, he discussed future plans and some preliminary data from studies measuring markers of metabolism among participants with high and low levels of physical activity. This endeavor is one of several underway in the Division to further our understanding of the mechanisms through which physical activity influences cancer risk.
