Choonsik Lee

In September 2016, Choonsik Lee, Ph.D., was awarded scientific tenure by the NIH, and promoted to senior investigator in the Radiation Epidemiology Branch (REB).

Dr. Lee has made considerable contributions to the development of computational human phantoms and the improvement of the dosimetry calculations for a variety of radiation exposure scenarios. His research is focused on the development of methods to more accurately assess organ-specific radiation doses for patients who receive radiotherapy or undergo computed tomography examinations. Improved dose estimates using these methods allow for better understanding of the long-term cancer risk resulting from exposure to medical ionizing radiation.
