Gary Fraser Delivers 2016 Arthur Schatzkin Distinguished Lecture in Nutritional Epidemiology

In May 2016, Dr. Gary Fraser, Professor in the Center for Nutrition, Healthy Lifestyle, and Disease Prevention of Loma Linda University School of Public Health gave the fourth Arthur Schatzkin Distinguished Lecture in Nutritional Epidemiology. Dr Fraser’s lecture was titled "Teasing out the underlying associations between diet and cancer: Examples from the Adventist Health Study-2.”

This annual lecture honors the memory of Arthur Schatzkin, M.D., Dr.P.H., a visionary scientist, mentor, and leader in the field of nutritional epidemiology. Dr Schatzkin, who served as Chief of the Nutritional Epidemiology Branch from 1995 until his death in 2011, was committed to understanding the role of nutrition in cancer etiology and prevention, and was instrumental in addressing major methodological issues of research in nutritional epidemiology. The lecture is jointly sponsored by the NCI Division of Cancer Epidemiology and Genetics, Division of Cancer Control and Population Sciences, and Division of Cancer Prevention.
